I'm kicking off a new photos series of experts in the beauty and fashion industries! So today, I'll be introducing myself to get us started.
Alecia Lindsay | Fashion Photographer
About Alecia:
I’m a 20-something, Alaskan born lady, who has recently graduated with a degree in Studio Art from Whitman College. I’m married to the most handsome and wonderful man in the world. And for now, the only baby we have is our cat named Stumps (whom I lovingly call my “replacement cat” after our last one had ran away.)
I love Jesus and some of my guilty pleasures include Pinterest, ice cream (only chocolate… ever), clothing hoarding and collecting tiny boxes.
My passion is to create beauty and to inspire others to take a leap of faith and follow their dreams.
How did you get into the Fashion/Beauty Industry and what do you love about it?
My journey into the fashion industry was completely unintentional. I stumbled upon photography while choosing my major in college. I had previously had little to no interest in photography, and I didn’t understand why people liked it so much.
It wasn’t until I started to photograph people that I really fell in love. From there, I tried to take photos of people in all contexts — weddings, engagements, portraits — and I slowly made my way toward fashion. If someone had told me in high school that I was going to be a fashion photographer, I probably would have laughed in disbelief.
I absolutely love working with my team to create images and seeing our ideas come to life.
What is your advice for someone getting into the Fashion/ Beauty Industry?
My best pieces of advice to people getting in the industry would be:
1) NEVER try to fit in.
2) Do your research.
3) Start before you’re ready! There will never a be a more perfect time than now. So, get out there and make it happen.
4) Have fun!
#WOW (Words of Wisdom):
Don’t search for people’s approval when you’re doing something out of the ordinary. Keep your eyes on the prize.
I'll be posting a new interview every Tuesday.
